Starring Yoona of SNSD, "Exit" premieres in the US on August 2nd, 2019.

No job, no house, no girlfriend — Yong-nam (Cho Jung-seok) probably embodies the woes of the modern millennial.

After bumping into his old crush Eui-ju (played by Yoona from SNSD), who friend-zoned him in college, Yong-nam insists on hosting his mom’s 70th birthday party at the restaurant where Eui-ju works. However, that night a mysterious cloud of toxic gas envelopes Seoul, sending the city into disaster mode—and giving Yong-nam an opportunity to save the day with his rock climbing skills, impressing Eui-ju in the process.

Exit marks first time Yoona plays the lead in movie (she had a minor role in Confidential Assignment). Yoona initially achieved fame as the doe-eyed member of hit K-Pop group SNSD. Her prior acting experience was mostly in the realm of dramas such as Prime Minister & I, God of War, and The King in Love.

The trailer for Exit highlights the comedic style that many Korean action flicks take, with light-hearted scenes sprinkled throughout what would otherwise be an intense disaster movie. Though Cho Jung-seok’s character seems to be the star of the show, we have no doubt audiences around the world will be drawn to the film because of Yoona’s involvement.

“Exit” premieres in Korea on July 31st, 2019, and in the US on August 2, 2019 at CGV Cinemas in Buena Park and Los Angeles. “Exit” will be broadly available across the US on August 9, 2019.
